arcana® cast iron

Fissler presents its new arcana® cast iron line - for cooking pleasure full of flavor

Idar-Oberstein, 12/02/2010

Thoughts of "home" are often associated with sitting together at the kitchen table and the special fragrance and flavor of certain dishes. These recipes are often passed on from generation to generation and are sure to bring a smile to one's face on every visit home.

True to its credo of providing "the right cookware for every type of cook and every application," Fissler is expanding its range of products and is launching a new cast iron line - arcana® - that will appeal to all those who appreciate a traditional kitchen atmosphere. Its pots, roasters and pans produce roasts, stews, and the like with an especially intense flavor.

Juicy, full of flavor, simply delicious
The secret of the typical "cast iron aroma" lies in the patina* that forms on the surface of the pots and pans after they have been used several times. Connoisseurs know that this gives foods a distinctive flavor - and also produces a natural nonstick effect. Meat can be seared at high temperatures with only a little fat and still stays incredibly tender on the inside. All of the classic stewed and braised dishes turn out incomparably juicy in the cast iron roasters. The material distributes and stores the heat optimally, so that the food is cooked evenly on all sides. A minor detail that has a major impact are the cast iron nubs on the inside of the lid. They facilitate the circulation of liquid in the closed pot and thus make it possible for the food to stew in its own liquid - and turn out juicy and full of flavor.

Energy-efficient, practical, hygienic
The new cast iron range is manufactured in northern France. This region has been known for decades as a center of excellence for the production of cookware made of this heavy material, one that is extremely energy-efficient because of its optimal heat absorption and storage. Even today, only a small part of the manufacturing process is done by machine. Every piece, whether it is a pot, roaster or pan, is inspected by hand several times. The final step is the enameling, which seals the pores of the cast iron, thus protecting it from penetration by soil, odors and moisture - for exceptional hygiene in the kitchen. The smooth surface is also extremely scratch-resistant and, once the food is on the table, facilitates easy, fast cleaning. A little hot water and a paper towel is all that is needed - and will preserve the patina.

Many possibilities for delightful dishes
The new cast iron range from the cookware experts in Idar-Oberstein comprises pots in seven different sizes and roasters in five sizes, available in the colors red and black. The line also includes two frypans, a country pan with glass lid, three grill pans with a removable handle, a grill platter, and a wok with glass lid. All of the arcana® products can be used on all types of stoves, including induction.

*Patina (Italian for thin layer) is a surface that results from natural aging.
